Summary: What do we need to do before Christ returns? Are we ready? You can find answers to these questions with the DVD/ Blu-Ray release of the new film, The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. – Revelation 1:3 (ESV)
The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire DVD Release
The film that stirred audiences in theaters is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
This past month we released the feature documentary, The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire which looks at the first three churches in Asia Minor who received messages from Jesus in the book of Revelation. This film series impressed me because it brings us back to the biblical letter to the early Church. To some churches like Smyrna the message was of encouragement, “I know your afflictions and your poverty …. Be faithful even to the point of death and I will give you a crown of life.”
To other churches like Ephesus, there were severe warnings. “You have forsaken your first love… Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”
Christ told the apostle John in Revelation 1:19, “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.” Many theologians who specialize in the book of Revelation told me that the messages to the 7 churches are relevant for every age. They believe we are living in the later period where the events of Revelation are more clearly unfolding and pointing to Christ’s second coming.
So how do we prepare ourselves and our families in a growing tide of political and cultural persecution against Bible-believing Christians? Sharing The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire is an excellent place to start. Exploring the historical and archaeological evidence helps bring you into the world of the early Church and reinforces the truth of the Bible. This film shows us what those churches were facing, and we can learn much from their messages and responses.
Sadly, there were churches in the book of Revelation that lost their way and blended into the culture to avoid persecution. And this reality is happening today. We are seeing a great falling away from the faith, especially among young people who reject biblical truth in favor of a culture that is “anti-Christ” in its nature and origin.
I am thankful for Christophe Hanauer, the young French Christian filmmaker who made this outstanding production. He is an example of someone who decided to answer the call at significant risk and made this film on the 7 Churches. I want to help young filmmakers when I can, and I hope you too will be able to support Christophe and this film Times of Fire.
What can we learn from The Parable of the 10 Virgins?
Jesus told a parable of ten virgins, five wise and five foolish, in reference to his return.
1“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ – Matthew 25: 1-9 (ESV)
10 And while they were going to buy (the oil), the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. – Matthew 25: 10-13 (ESV)
This portion of the Scriptures tells us that although all ten of these virgins were invited and waiting, like us today, the five foolish virgins were not prepared for the delay of the bridegroom’s coming, which is the return of Christ. The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire awakens an awareness of the need for a deeper faith. Faith that is grounded in the Scriptures, prayer, and the faithfulness of a community of believers known as the “Church.”
It asks the question, “Are we ready for the return of Christ?”
I realize that some Christians have left their church after being offended, and others have not returned after COVID 19. There are many reasons for not being committed to a local body of believers, which leads to what I would call “lone ranger” faith. But when things get hard, and we are facing Times of Fire, the support and encouragement of other believers become essential. We need help to walk in faith, and we need to have that extra oil of the Holy Spirit.
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Matthew 18:20 (ESV)
These realities are one reason why we are making this film available for you now. In these unprecedented times of CANCEL CULTURE, we don’t know what the future will hold. Will biblically-oriented films like The 7 Churches of Revelation: Times of Fire become off-limits? Now you can add this faith-affirming film to your library of biblical truth to encourage your family and friends in the days to come.
